What is Laser Tattoo Removal
A laser is passed over the tattoo during a laser tattoo removal process by the practitioner. Tattoo removal lasers emit pulses of light energy instead of a continuous beam of light like a laser pointer does.
Each energy pulse passes through the skin and is absorbed by the ink of the tattoo. The energy is absorbed by the tattoo ink particles, which heat up and break into minuscule pieces. The body's immune system then removes tattoo ink particles from the area throughout the weeks that follow therapy, softening the appearance of the tattoo. The tattoo ink is gradually destroyed by the laser treatments, until none is left.
Mechanism of Action - Tattoos/Pigments
- Q-switch technology generates high energetic short pulses from laser
- Extreme short nanosecond (10−9 second) pulses of high peak power
- Target chromophores are pigmented lesions or tattoo particle
- Rapid heating results in a PHOTOACOUSTIC effect on ink/pigment particles
